Apple Could Launch Its Own AI Pin As Soon As Next Year

Hot on the heels of Apple’s deal with Google to use its AI model to improve Siri comes the news that the iPhone maker may have plans to launch its first AI-powered pin. And it might be ready to launch as soon as 2027.

The new report by The Information says that development on the new product is only in its early stages, which might suggest that there is plenty of opportunity for its plans to change.

In its current state, though, The Information reports the device is similar in size to an AirTag.

With a flat circular design, the new pin is also expected to have two cameras as well as a microphone and speaker so that wearers can converse with Siri. Similar to an AirTag, the report also claims the new device doesn’t have a built-in method for attaching it to a wearer’s clothes. With that in mind, it’s unclear how Apple intends for people to use it.

It’s clear that Apple will need to do some considerable work on Siri before an AI-powered pin is viable, but that work is now underway.

A new, conversational version of the company’s digital assistant is expected to debut later this year. The company had intended to use an in-house AI model, but has since chosen to employ Google’s Gemini as an alternative.
