Support for Apple’s Car Keys digital key feature is coming to Tank vehicles made by the Chinese company Great Wall Motor, or GWM.
This is according to a new MacRumors report, which cites code changes discovered within the back end of Apple’s Wallet app system. The GWM Tank is a luxury SUV sub-brand of the automaker, and it appears Car Key support is now closer than ever.

Car Keys allows iPhone and Apple Watch owners to unlock their vehicle using the Wallet app. A digital version of the key is stored in the Wallet app, and all owners need to do is have their iPhone or Apple Watch near the vehicle for it to be activated.
However, it’s unclear which features will be part of the new GWM rollout.
What can be done with Car Keys may vary by car manufacturer, but at a minimum, Car Keys can be used to unlock your car, lock your car, and start your car, which are the features available with a physical key.
Apple first introduced its Car Keys feature in 2022, and carmakers have been steadily adding it to their vehicles ever since. Apple has a webpage that shows the currently supported vehicles, and we can surely expect the GWM Tank to be added in due course.
