Apple Brings Pixelmator Pro To The iPad

Apple has today released Pixelmator Pro for the iPad, bringing support for the Apple Pencil for people who want to create imagery with a pen or pencil-like interface.

Pixelmator Pro has long been the go-to option for Mac owners who want to edit images, and was bought by Apple in 2025.

There was already a Pixelmator app available for owners of iPhones and iPads, but Apple had confirmed that it would no longer be updated. For users of those apps, the new Pixelmator Pro app is the place to be, adding new features more like those that Mac users have come to expect.

The new app is compatible with iPads running the A16, A17 Pro, and M1 chip or newer, meaning not all iPad Pro tablets will work. You’ll also need to be running iPadOS 26 or later in order to install the new app, too. The app is available as part of the new Apple Creator Studio, too.

Pixelmator Pro is now part of Apple Creator Studio, an amazing collection of Apple’s most powerful creative apps designed to help you bring your ideas to life. The suite includes Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor, and MainStage — plus premium content and intelligence features in Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and Freeform, all in one simple plan.

As for the new iPad version, Apple says that users can:

Easily roundtrip between Pixelmator Pro for iPad and Mac, syncing edits through iCloud, and pick up projects wherever you left off
