Reports also suggest that graphical applications are being given priority for the event, lending more credence to the belief that the new iPad will feature a Retina Display, with graphics-heavy apps set to show off the power of such a device on an iPad.

Our sources tell us that this selection process is continuing at an increased rate as Apple looks to finalize the lineup for the iPad 3. There is also emphasis on graphics-oriented applications with high-definition assets, which appears to be in line with the new iPad featuring a ‘Retina’ display.

We've had plenty of rumors suggesting that the event will come during the next few weeks, with the iPad 3 being released soon after. AllThingsD all-but confirmed an early-March event recently, which fits in well with the timescale we have all come to expect from Apple's iPad release cadence.

Until Apple actually announces the next generation iPad, we'll be simply guessing as to what we are going to get this time around. We had hoped for a Retina Display in the iPad 2 this time last year, only to be disappointed. The signs certainly point to this year being the year we get a high resolution screen in our tablet, with parts suppliers leaking images of what appear to be Retina Display screens made by Sharp.

Hopefully we won't be guessing for too much longer now.

We’re very much in the middle of the iPad 3 rush right now, with rumors, photos and all other kinds of things cropping up over the last few days. All the evidence points towards an iPad 3 announcement in the coming weeks, and the latest rumor corroborates just that.

According to our friends over at The Next Web, Apple is currently in the midst of a rush to get app demos ready for an upcoming demonstration of the new iPad 3.

Apple usually has a few select developers queued up for demonstrations during big keynote events, and the iPad 3 announcement appears to be no different. Expect developers to be up on stage showing off their wares, though we do hope we don’t get two hours of app developers trotting up on-stage to show us the 13th new game of the event!

Reports also suggest that graphical applications are being given priority for the event, lending more credence to the belief that the new iPad will feature a Retina Display, with graphics-heavy apps set to show off the power of such a device on an iPad.
