Apple Announces New M5 MacBook Air And M5 Pro / Max MacBook Pro

Apple today announced not one but three new laptops, starting with the M5 MacBook Air. The company also unveiled M5 Pro and M5 Max versions of the MacBook Pro, as well as a 16-inch model to join the existing 14-inch version.

The new M5 MacBook Air offers a faster CPU and GPU when compared to the outgoing M4 version, with Apple saying that buyers can expect improved performance in a variety of workflows, including creative projects and AI tasks.

Another upgrade sees the M5 MacBook Air come with 512GB of storage as standard, double the previous model. It can also be configured up to 4TB of storage if required.

Other notable features include Apple’s N1 wireless chip with support for both WiFI 7 and Bluetooth 6 connectivity.

The new MacBook Air is available in 13- and 15-inch configurations with prices starting at $1,099. The new laptops will go on sale on March 11.

Announcing the new M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pros, Apple brought even more performance to the lineup. Apple says that the new chips offer up to 4x AI performance compared to the previous generation and up to 8x AI performance when compared to the M1 models.

The MacBook Pros with the M5 Pro chip come with 1TB of storage as standard, while the M5 Max comes with 2TB. Again, the Apple N1 chip brings fast WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6 to the lineup.

The new M5 Pro models start at $1,699 with the 16-inch version and the M5 Max upgrade increases the price considerably. Again, the new laptops will go on sale on March 11.
