Apple Announces MacBook Neo, Its New $599 Laptop

After all of the rumors, Apple has announced its new budget-friendly laptop. The MacBook Neo starts at just $599, and offers a new way for Mac buyers to pick up a laptop at a new, low price.

The MacBook Neo comes with a 13-inch Liquid Retina display and is powered by an Apple-designed A18 Pro chip, rather than an M-series as would normally be the case.

Apple’s A and M-series chips are all based on the same architecture, however, so you’ll still get the full macOS experience here.

All MacBook Neo models come with 8GB of RAM, while the 256GB starting SSD configuration can be upgraded to 512GB. Choosing the larger storage also gets you a keyboard with Touch ID built in, so keep that in mind.

Buyers of the MacBook Neo can choose between blush, indigo, silver, and a fresh new citrus finish that makes the machine stand out from the rest of the MacBook lineup.

Despite its light 2.7-pound weight, the MacBook Neo still promises up to 16 hours of battery life from a single charge. It’ll be charged via either of the two USB-C ports, while a 3.5mm headphone jack rounds out the physical connectivity. Wireless connectivity comes in the form of Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6.

The MacBook Neo is available for preorder right now and will officially go on sale on March 11.
