Apple has today announced the new iPhone 17e, a budget-friendly iPhone that replaces the iPhone 16e in the lineup.
The new phone starts at $599 and comes with 256GB of storage, which is double that of the iPhone 16e.

Apple announced the new iPhone alongside the new M4 iPad Air, with the phone coming in a premium, matte finish. That finish is offered in three different colors with black, white, and a soft pink offered.
The iPhone 17e comes with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with Ceramic Shield 2 coating, which offers 3x better scratch resistance than the previous generation.
The new display also reduces glare for those who use their iPhone 17e in direct sunlight.
Apple’s more budget-friendly iPhone now supports both MagSafe and Qi2, enabling faster 15W wireless charging. That’s a noticeable step up from the 7.5W Qi charging offered on the iPhone 16e.
On the inside, the iPhone 17e uses the latest-generation A19 chip as well as the Apple-designed C1X modem. That modem promises to be 2x faster than the C1 that can be found in the previous iPhone 16e, offering the potential for faster 5G data transfer speeds when on the move.
Around the back, the new iPhone comes with a 48-megapixel Fusion camera with support for next-generation Portrait Mode as well as 4K Dolby Vision video capture.
The new iPhone 17e will be available for preorder from Wednesday, March 4, with the 256GB starting configuration available for $599. An iPhone 17e with 512GB of stprage will also be available for those who need more breathing space.
