A New Sony PlayStation 5 Update Has Brought Classic Console Themes Back And More

A new PS5 software update has brought back the popular classic PlayStation console themes, while new additions include a new audio option.

Sony announced the new update via a blog post, confirming that the classic themes that were temporarily introduced as part of the PlayStation 30th anniversary celebrations have now returned — something that is sure to be seen as a positive move by PS5 owners.

“During our 30th anniversary celebrations, we surprised our fans with a limited time selection of nostalgic customization features for the PS5 System UI to honor the four PlayStation consoles that paved the way for PS5: PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4,” Sony said in its announcement post.

Due to the overwhelmingly positive response from our community, we’re happy to bring back the look and feel of the four console designs for players to customize the home screen on PS5!

Sony also announced a new audio focus feature that “increases immersion by providing presets to amplify soft sounds to meet your hearing preferences, ensuring a clearer audio experience when using headphones or headsets. This feature supports broader accessibility in audio experiences.”

The new PS5 software update is available right now, and those who have automatic updates enabled may already have it installed on their consoles.
