Apple is expected to announce iOS 27 at its WWDC event in June, and a new report claims that the company will allow third-party AI chatbots to integrate with Siri for the first time.
According to a new Bloomberg report, Apple is planning to open up its Siri digital assistant in a whole new way. The company already allows Siri to send requests to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, but support for competitors from Google and Anthropic could soon follow suit.

The report, by long-time Apple watcher Mark Gurman, claims that iOS 27 will open the door to other chatbots, suggesting that users will be able to choose their favorite rather than sticking with Apple Intelligence and ChatGPT. Gurman cited unnamed people with knowledge of the matter in his report.
While Apple is expected to unveil iOS 27 and the rest of its software updates this June, they aren’t expected to be released to the public until September.
That gives Apple plenty of time to iron out any of the issues third-party chatbot options may cause.

Apple has already signed a deal that will see Google’s Gemini used to help bolster Siri, but the deal is yet to come to any public fruition. It’s possible more details around what the upgraded Siri will be able to do will be shared at WWDC in June.
