Apple Announces New $400 Million Plan To Bring Manufacturing To The US

Apple today announced a plan to spend $400 million on new programs that will see a handful of its suppliers move their manufacturing to the United States by 2030. This comes after Apple already pledged $600 billion for previous initiatives.

As part of today’s announcement, Apple says that Bosch, Cirrus Logic, TDK, and Qnity Electronics will all start to manufacture materials and components within the United States.

They will then be used to build iPhones and other Apple products for use around the globe.
“At Apple, we believe in the power of American innovation and manufacturing, and we’re proud to partner with even more companies to produce critical components and cutting-edge materials for our products right here in the U.S.,” Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, said via a press release.

“Today, we’re joining with world-class partners like Bosch, Cirrus Logic, TDK, and Qnity Electronics to further expand Apple’s U.S. supply chain through our American Manufacturing Program. This is another powerful example of what is possible when we invest in American ingenuity, and we’re excited to build the future together.”

Part of the new program will see companies produce the components required for Apple’s Face ID technology, with sensors for image stabilization and integrated circuits for features like Crash Detection and Activity tracking.
