11 iPhone 6s / 7 Features Revealed By Trusted Analyst

As September draws near, rumors and reports regarding the next iPhone are beginning to hit the Internet with an increasing pace. A recently published report seems to be pointing at some significant changes in the hardware, and even discusses if the smaller 4-inch iPhone will be hitting the shelves this year or not.

Given the history of Apple’s naming cycle for the iPhone lineup, the next pair of Cupertino’s smartphones should be called the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, but apparently, the upcoming device from Apple could have enough changes under the hood to be called an iPhone 7. This is what Ming-Chi Kuo, an analysts at KGI Securities had suggested some time back, and now he has sent a list of 11 predictions regarding the upcoming iPhone.

At the heart of the phone will a brand-new A9 processor from Apple, and all this power will be complimented with ample 2GB of LPDDR4 RAM, which should give the phone a tremendous boost in multi-tasking scenarios. The iSight camera will most likely be upgraded to a 12-megapixel sensor, and while the 8MP offering in current iPhones is pretty potent, it was about time some extra pixels made the cut. There is also a chance that we may see a new color option for the iPhone as well; rose gold, as seen on the Apple Watch Edition. 18-karat gold? Likely not.

While Apple will retain the current screen sizes of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, the report adds that the Cupertino camp will be looking to use a different casing material this time around, further supplemented by internal mechanical design changes to counter the slightest chance of the phone bending. An improved Touch ID sensor, introduction of gesture control support, additional microphone near the speaker, are some of the other features that might land on the new iPhone.

Naturally, Force Touch will be the biggest selling point of the iPhone 6s or iPhone 7 – whatever Apple calls it – allowing for some new ways to interact with the existing UI in iOS. That said, as was the case with the Apple Watch, supplies for the new tech have been pretty short, resulting in a lesser number of units produced, and Apple would want to avoid this with the iPhone. It is expected that mass production of the handsets should begin somewhere in August, with Kuo expecting 80-90 million units being sold in 2015.

Regarding the 4-inch iPhone, it’s believed that it won’t be released this year.
