Windows Mobile 7 on HTC HD2 Confirmed Again by HTC

Just came across this thread on XDA-Developers forum where a forum member got a reply from HTC regarding Windows Mobile 7 upgrade for HD2. The member in question enquired HTC via email on whether or not HD2 will be getting the upcoming Windows Mobile 7 as a free upgrade. This was the reply he got from a representative at HTC.

Last month, HTC’s Russian twitter account mysteriously posted a tweet, confirming that Windows Mobile 7 will indeed be coming to HD2. Later on, they backed off on their previous comment, saying that it was posted in error and that it is unconfirmed at this point on whether HD2 is going to get Windows Mobile 7 or not.

For those of you who don’t know, HTC HD2 is powered by Windows Mobile 6.5 and is the first Windows phone to feature multi-touch support through HTC Sense (aka HTC TouchFLO 3D 2.5). It is the first Windows phone which meets all the hardware chassis requirements laid out by Microsoft for a phone which will be powered by Windows Mobile 7. And so it will only make sense for HTC to release a free Windows Mobile 7 upgrade for HD2 owners.

Microsoft is expected to unveil Windows Mobile 7 officially for the first time at the Mobile World Congress in February of this year.
