Tesla’s Full Self-Driving Is Being Tested In The UAE

Tesla has started testing its Full Self-Driving (FSD) system in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the first time. The Integrated Transport Centre, also known as Abu Dhabi Mobility, announced that it is overseeing Tesla’s trial.

Not a Tesla App reports that the “Advanced Self-Driving (Supervised)” road trials are now underway in Abu Dhabi, although there will be strict driver supervision as part of the testing process.

The primary goal is to assess how the technology handles real-world conditions in the region while verifying its operational safety before a wider rollout. Dr. Abdulla Hamad AlGhfeli, Acting Director General of Abu Dhabi Mobility, noted that the tests represent a “qualitative step to evaluate the technology’s performance in a real-world operating environment and to collect the necessary data to verify its readiness.”

Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is Tesla’s most advanced driver-assistant system, and allows the vehicle to make turns, navigate city streets, and more.

However, it does still require that a human be in the driver’s seat and ready to take control if needed. Tesla has been working to improve the software with steady updates.

Tesla is now expected to turn its attentions to Israel after the company eased a similar trial in the country. Regulatory approval for the system to be used on European roads is also in the works.
