The Vice President of Swype Inc. has confirmed that his company has been in talks with Apple, and although he stopped short of divulging any details on whether the Swype keyboard technology could be headed to iOS in the near future, it would seem from the comments he made during a Reddit AMA that things went rather well.

Earlier this week, we showcased Swype for iOS, a new jailbreak that greatly increases typing speed on iOS devices. Back when we first previewed the tweak, it had several caveats, such as low accuracy and other bugs. Swype has now been updated to address those issues and make the port feel more like the original Android version.

Those who've spent some time on the Android platform are probably aware of Swype, a tweak that lets users type on their virtual keyboards without ever lifting their fingers, by simply quickly swiping their finger across the keyboard over any letter in order to form a word, and only then releasing it. Fans of this tool should now be happy to know that Swype has now been unofficially ported to iOS.

Swype keyboard, which is currently officially available only on Windows Mobile based Samsung Omnia II has been leaked for Android devices. This leaked preview version of Skype is optimized for high resolution Android devices such as the Motorola Droid and HTC Droid Eris. This preview version of Swype for Android devices is said to be incompatible with the older WVGA screens.
