Before the belated introduction of Siri, Notification Center was the main talking point of Apple's much improved operating system for mobile devices - iOS 5. Although the voice-recognition software is marvelous and all, the improved notification infrastructure has to go down as the prized feature of what is (besides the battery issues) a very well put together update.
We've said it before, and we're not afraid to say it again and if required, once more. Notification Center is quite possibly one of the most important additions to iOS since multitasking and, ironically, it's also one of the most underused aspects of Apple's latest release.
With the release of Apple's iOS 5 beta last week the jailbreak community set about writing 3rd-party widgets to replace the bundled Stock and Weather examples. We've already seen a variety of new widgets find their way into Cydia for those with jailbroken iOS 5 devices and the latest to enter the fray is one we'd all been quietly waiting for - an RSS reader.
These jailbreak developers just can't stop cranking out Notification Center tweaks can they? The latest in a long line of 3rd-party widgets brings iOS stats to the Notification Center.
