Evasi0n and Pangu Jailbreaks Nominated For 2014 Pwnie Award, Which One Should Win? [POLL]

Ben Reid·August 5, 2014
To get one untethered jailbreak per major iOS release is a blessing in itself, but even though the job of the jailbreaking scene gets more difficult with each year that passes by, the fact that Evad3rs and Pangu both dropped untethered jailbreaks for iOS 7 was nothing short of heroic. Evad3rs' Evasi0n tool took care of iOS 7.0.x, and when this was eventually plugged, the self-titled tool from the Pangu team took care of iOS 7.1.x. Now, both are up for a Pwnie award in the ‘Best Privilege Escalation Bug’ category, a gathering that highlights the work of those in the field of security research, and although we've no personal affinity to one over the other, we'd certainly love to see a jailbreak team yield such acclaim.

Evasi0n iOS 6 Jailbreak Presented At HITB By Evad3rs, Slides Now Viewable Online

Ben Reid·April 13, 2013
Yesterday saw the conclusion of the Hack In The Box conference over in Amsterdam, an annual event where some of the most talented hackers and security experts gather to share insights, knowledge, and discoveries. The event saw some very interesting talks, particularly one in which pilot-turned-security-guru Hugo Teso showed how he could commandeer a Boeing jet remotely using an Android smartphone, but one which will certainly pique the interests of some Redmond Pie readers was that of the Evad3rs jailbreak team.

Jailbreak iOS 6.1.2 Untethered With Updated Evasi0n v1.5 or Sn0wbreeze v2.9.11

Ben Reid·February 28, 2013
The Evad3rs team has updated its famed Evasi0n tool to jailbreak iOS 6, 6.1, 6.1.2 with improved boot times. Some users were finding the post-jailbreak boot time was considerably longer than it should have been, but this latest update fixes all that. Those already jailbroken need not jailbreak again; instead check within your Cydia packages for the updated list, which should become apparent after a refresh.

Evasi0n Can Jailbreak iOS 6.1.2

Ben Reid·February 20, 2013
The release of iOS 6.1.2 may have fixed the Exchange calendar bug that was eating batteries like tapeworm, but it looks as though it still hasn't prevented the Evasi0n tool from offering an untethered jailbreak. Seasoned jailbreak guru and Evad3rs member Planetbeing has tweeted the good news that his iPhone 5 is jailbreakable on iOS 6.1.2, and although he has yet to test other devices, it's unlikely they'll throw up any nasty surprises. This means that, pending a little more investigation of course, you can update to iOS 6.1.2 and re-jailbreak to enjoy the perks of an untethered jailbreak on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
