Apple has released a new macOS software update, which adds support for the recently updated Studio Display and brand-new Studio Display XDR. The macOS Tahoe 26.3.1 update is now available as a free download for owners of all compatible Macs.
Mac owners can download the new software update via the Software Update section of the System Settings app.

Apple’s release notes for the update note that their software adds support for its new monitors, while MacRumors notes that there is also a new firmware update available for both of them.
Apple’s updated Studio Display is a refreshed version of the existing 27-inch monitor, but the new Studio Display XDR is the more interesting announcement. The new monitor is also 27 inches, but brings some of the Pro Display XDR’s features down the lineup to a smaller, more affordable display.
The Studio Display XDR offers 1,000 nits of peak SDR brightness and 2,000 nits of peak HDR brightness, as well as a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio.

The monitor also boasts a 120Hz refresh rate as well as Adaptive Sync, a feature that adjusts the input feed to match the display. The Studio Display XDR starts at $3,299, while a nano-texture option will cost an additional $300.
Apple’s new monitors are available for preorder now and will officially go on sale on March 11.
