iTunes Version 12.4.2 For Mac And Windows Released

After releasing a number of software updates today which included final version of iOS 9.3.3, watchOS 2.2.2, tvOS 9.2.2 and OS X El Capitan 10.11.6, as well as beta 3 version of iOS 10, macOS Sierra, watchOS 3 and tvOS 10, Apple has now also released a new version of iTunes.

Available for both Windows and Mac OS X, the new version – which carries number 12.4.2 – is a minor bug fix release which resolves an issue for Apple Music subscribers when playing back short tracks (shorter than 60 seconds) that are in Up Next queue.

The official changelog of iTunes 12.4.2 for both Mac OS X and Windows reads “This update resolves a playback issue with short Apple Music songs in your Up Next queue.” In addition to this change, the Windows version of iTunes 12.4.2 also patches critical security bugs which Apple has detailed on its security page here.

As for how to update iTunes on your computer to the latest version, if you have a Mac, you can simply go to the Mac App Store and grab the update from under Updates tab. Windows user? No problem. Open the Apple Software Update utility installed on your PC to check for the latest iTunes 12.4.2 update.

Alternatively, you can also download iTunes 12.4.2 for both Windows and Mac directly from apple.com/itunes/download.

As mentioned earlier, it’s one of those days when Apple has dropped software updates across almost all of its platforms. Final version of iOS 9.3.3 and beta 3 of iOS 10 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices, OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 and macOS Sierra beta 3 for Macs, watchOS 2.2.2 and watchOS 3 beta 3 for Apple Watch, tvOS 9.2.2 and tvOS 10 beta 3 for Apple TV, and now iTunes 12.4.2 for both Windows PCs and Macs, are all available to download right now.
