Apple announced iOS 26 during the WWDC opening keynote on June 9, including a number of new features.
Now, we’re learning more about that release, including the fact that it will make it easier for people to set a custom ringtone on their iPhone.

Currently, adding a custom ringtone to your iPhone requires the use of the GarageBand app and more than a few steps.
However, Macworld reports that the iOS 26 update will change all of that. The new addition was spotted in the first iOS 26 developer beta.
As spotted by Macworld, iOS 26 developer beta 1 introduces a hassle-free option for setting custom ringtones. The setting is accessible when sharing an audio file via the Files, Voice Memos, and other compatible apps. Once you select the desired audio track, hit the Share button, scroll to the bottom of the list, then tap the all-new Use as Ringtone button. (If you don’t see the new option, it may be hidden behind the More button in the share sheet.)

After following those steps, the custom track will appear at the top of the list of available ringtones in the Settings app, making it easier than ever to set custom tones.
The iOS 26 software update is set to be released to the public this fall, likely alongside the new iPhone 17 series in September.
