So how does iOS 18.6 fare in terms of battery life drain? Let’s find out in this test.
As you may know, whenever Apple releases a new version of its iPhone software, a ton of people are concerned about how the update will impact their phone’s battery life. It’s easy to see why, too, with previous updates having a negative impact for some.

YouTuber iAppleBytes set about getting to the bottom of this by installing the iOS 18.6 final update on a raft of devices to see how things went. Those devices included newer models, like the iPhone 16, as well as older ones like the iPhone SE 2020 and iPhone XR.
You can check the full video out for yourself to see how things went, especially in terms of your own device. If you’re at all concerned about the impact of iOS 18.6 on your iPhone’s battery life, it might be worth watching the video before updating.
The iOS 18.6 update doesn’t add any big new features to the iPhone. Instead, it’s here to fix bugs and improve other aspects of the iPhone user experience. The lack of new features could cause some people to give iOS 18.6 a miss, but that would be unwise. Making sure that you have access to all of the latest bug fixes and security patches is always the way to go in our eyes.
Apple is also working on iOS 26, the next big software update. It’s currently availalbe in beta and we expect that it will be released to the public in September.
