With an ever-increasing user base, hard work on the Kodi platform is warranted, but it also means that some users are faced with error messages and issues that they simply don’t know how to fix, such as this rather annoying issue that informs users that it couldn’t connect or retrieve directory information. Thankfully, if an error exists, it can generally be solved if you are armed with the right knowledge, and we are going to arm you with that right now.

Step 1: We begin our journey where we do on most occasions in Kodi, by heading into the Settings section of the platform to get access to more options.

Step 2: When in Settings, locate the File Manager section and make sure you select that.

Step 3: Right-click or tap and hold – depending on the device – on the URL/Directory name that you have previously tried to add with failure, and select the Edit source option that appears in the contextual menu.

Step 4: Now click or tap on the listed URL address.

Step 5: Make sure that you remove all unwanted spaces before and after the URL. Make sure that you also remove all capital letters and just have lowercase letters make up the URL. Once that has been done, and you’ve checked to ensure that the entered URL is correct, tap OK to save.

You should now be able to go through the process and successfully access the contents of that URL with those changes made.

The growing popularity of Kodi is definitely exciting, and even more so considering just how many platforms it actually supports now. With that said, there are also a growing number of issues and error messages which instantly put some people off from using the platform.
