After months of waiting, Apple’s F1: The Movie is now finally available for Apple TV subscribers to watch at home. This is the first time that it has been streamed at no additional cost.
The movie has proven hugely popular to date, with reports suggesting that it has raked in almost $630 million at the global box office. That makes it the most successful Apple Original Film, in terms of revenue, so far.

This comes after it originally premiered in theaters way back in June, before it returned to theaters in August. The movie also proved to be the precursor to Apple and F1 signing a multi-year streaming deal that sees Apple become the home of F1 racing in the United States.
As for the movie, it follows Brad Pitt’s character as he makes a return to the starting grid 30 years after an on-track accident nearly ended his career.
Dubbed “the greatest that never was,” Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) was FORMULA 1’s most promising phenom of the 1990s until an accident on the track nearly ended his career. Thirty years later, he’s a nomadic racer-for-hire when he’s approached by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), owner of a struggling FORMULA 1 team that is on the verge of collapse. Ruben convinces Sonny to come back to FORMULA 1 for one last shot at saving the team and being the best in the world. He’ll drive alongside Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), the team’s hotshot rookie intent on setting his own pace. But as the engines roar, Sonny’s past catches up with him and he finds that in FORMULA 1, your teammate is your fiercest competition—and the road to redemption is not something you can travel alone.

Alongside Pitt, the F1 movie also stars Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Kim Bodnia, and Javier Bardem, and was shot at real GP circuits during race weekends to give it as real a look and feel as possible.
If you’re an F1 fan or just keen to see what all the fuss is about, F1: The Movie is available to all Apple TV subscribers right now.
