While Facebook does allow users to make video calls to friends, this feature is limited to the desktop version of Facebook. If you want to make calls on the go, well, you can’t. However, with the recently updated Talkatone app, you can make voice calls to your friends on Facebook.
Talkatone was updated today, bringing one major new feature to the table: the ability to call your friends over on Facebook for free. After downloading and installing the app, you set it up with your Facebook account and then you invite your friends to talk.
The method by which this invite is sent is a bit annoying in the sense that it is spammily posted to your friend’s wall with the message, “<your friend’s name>, I am calling you on Facebook from Talkatone. You can get it on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, an call me back for free.” This is somewhat expected considering it is a free app.

Danis Dayanov, Creator of Talkatone has stated that he intends to target video calling on Facebook next.
Along with providing push notifications for Facebook Chat, Talkatone also let users make unlimited free calls and texts to US or Canadian phone numbers over Wi-Fi using Google Voice. The greatest thing about Talkatone – besides it being completely free – is how it is not only for the iPhone but also for the iPod touch and iPad.
