The iPod touch hasn't seen any love for quite a while now - two-and-a-half years, to be precise - and with the Apple Watch now at the forefront of attention, the once-revered "iPhone without the phone part" has faded into the abyss. Some have, quite naturally, tipped the demise of the iPod touch, and given that Apple sells as large a variety of iPhone as it ever has - four models with three different display sizes and price points - it's hard to argue. Rumor has it, though, that the iPod touch will be back with a bang, boasting a bumped processor, camera and other enhancements.

Yesterday, we brought you the news that djay 2 for iPhone and iPad, which regularly cost $2.99 and $9.99 respectively, had just gone free for a week, and now, creator Algoriddim has more good news for wannabe DJs and music makers. Extreme users may also opt for the djay Pro Mac app, which is also discounted with $30 off at $49.99, and as well as adding a bunch of features to the OS X edition of djay, the developer has also brought Apple Watch support to the iPhone edition.
As is often the case with new Apple products, there was a manic rush for pre-orders of the Apple Watch when it was first made available to reserve back on April 10th. Historically, those who manage to get in early get their devices before those lagging behind, and within hours of the pre-orders beginning, many customers were reporting estimated shipping dates of 4-6 weeks. Some were even told that June would be a ballpark ETA for a product that hits the mass market on April 24th, but much to the surprise of some, the status of some of these orders has changed to "Preparing for Shipment" - a very pleasant surprise for those who may have prepared for a long wait.
A few years ago, before the big IPO, Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook were continually - and correctly - lambasted for their decidedly below-par mobile efforts. For a company that had a following then well into the hundreds of millions - now in the billions, of course - Facebook on iOS and Android were a major let down, but in recent times, things have dramatically improved. Facebook has, at times, partaken in the sport of throwing ideas against the wall and seeing what sticks - with varying degrees of success - and now, has launched an all-new dialer app for Android called Hello.
If you've read any of my articles pertaining to Apple TV, you'll know what I think of its remote. It's a prime example of when minimalism is taken too far, and for a company that focuses so much on the user experience, pretty poor form from Apple. But it's not the only set-top remote lacking in buttons, and even though some alternatives are better-designed, they're all considered clutter since none of them can control a TV set as well.
EA SPORTS has just dropped a UFC title for iOS and Android, featuring official fighters and events from the all-action sport. It's free to download, and you can find key details and download links right here.
The YouTube app is, for most iOS users, a staple part of the digital diet, and where it used to be a native utility, it's now an optional download from the iTunes App Store. The removal of the YouTube app from the stock repertoire has been favorable from the perspective of the user, since it has allowed the much-improved app to flourish under Google's third-party control, but now, it seems that the old, pre-iOS 6 app will lose support from next month.
The anticipation for the Apple Watch’s consumer roll-out this Friday is building with every moment that passes, and the wait for those who pre-ordered early has just gotten a little bit more tantalizing as Apple begins charging credit cards in advance of shipment. For many, the device is still listed as “processing items,” but for others, the status has advanced to “preparing for shipment,”and if you’re expecting to receive your Apple Watch by Friday, you may want to check the tracking and delivery status.
Apple Watch is packed to the rafters with toys, both hardware and software-related, and among them, users will get a heart rate monitor. Part and parcel of the wearable's investment in fitness and health, we're led to believe that it will provide accurate readings of a user's heart rate, and now, the company has shed some light on precisely how the technology will work.
Apple is a company dedicated to the advancement of technology, the field from which it has spawned, but has also drawn praise for its efforts to make the world a better place. Like most tech firms, most of its production is based in China and other parts of Asia, but in recent times, it has shifted manufacturing to the U.S. for products like the Mac Pro. In its continued strive to aid the environment, the Cupertino giant has released a new video clip that highlights its commitment to a greener business model that positively affects the planet.
