Apple released a raft of new devices during its September release window this year, but there are models of iPhone in particular that have proven the most popular.
A new market intelligence report claims that the base model iPhone 17 has been a strong seller for Apple this time around. At the opposite end of the price scale, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is also thought to have seen strong sales.

Of the four iPhone variants, this year’s base model iPhone 17 is performing well, especially in China, where consumers are reacting warmly to its strong value offering […] In the US, the iPhone 17 Pro Max has seen the strongest ramp in demand as the big three carriers boost maximum subsidies by 10% ($100), reflecting a strategic shift towards ultra-premium customer segments in the US market.
This comes after early Chinese preorders for the iPhone Air had also seen the device sell out across the country, suggesting that it, too, has been popular among early adopters. The South China Morning Post had previously said that iPhone Air availability had been exhausted within minutes of the device being made available for preorder.
Notably, the report suggests that many iPhone upgraders are now buying their first new phone since the pandemic in 2020.
