Apple Could Bring Google Gemini To Siri With Talks Ongoing

Apple is reportedly in talks with Google about bringing its Gemini AI to the iPhone and other devices. The AI feature would be made part of Siri.

Bloomberg reports that while discussions are at an early stage, Apple has told Google that it would want the company to build a custom AI model to help boost Siri.

Google is already training a model that would be able to run on Apple’s Private Cloud Computer servers, suggesting that it is keen to offer something at the end of these talks. Apple had already spoken with OpenAI and Anthropic about doing something similar, and they too have been working on models that would run in Apple’s data centers.

Apple Inc. is in early discussions about using Google Gemini to power a revamped version of the Siri voice assistant, marking a key potential step toward outsourcing more of its artificial intelligence technology.

Apple is working to improve Siri‘s capabilities at a time when Apple Intelligence hasn’t proven the powerhouse technology that it had hoped. Conversely, Google continues to add high-value AI-powered features to Android and its Pixel line of phones.

Apple is set to launch its iOS 26 iPhone software and iPhone 17 hardware next month, but it will still lag behind the recently announced Pixel 10 devices in terms of AI features. The company will hope that using Google AI know-how will help close the gap.
