If you’re holding off buying a new pair of AirPods Pro, the third generation is expected to be announced soon. But according to a new report, at least one of the rumored features won’t be ready for launch.
9to5Mac, citing an anonymous tipster, reports that Apple’s AirPods Pro 3 will not have the live translation feature ready for launch. Instead, that feature will be added as a software update later — although it’s unclear when that will happen.

The good news? Apple is still expected to have new in-ear temperature sensing and heart rate sensing available at launch. Apple has been rumored to be working on those features for some time now, and it appears that AirPods Pro 3 will support them from day one.
However, the more interesting live translation feature won’t be part of the initial launch, 9to5Mac warns.
The feature has the potential to be a huge boon for travelers, with AirPods Pro 3 detecting speech and then translating foreign languages into English on the fly. Any response would then be relayed to the non-English speaker via a connected iPhone’s loudspeaker, the report suggests.

Apple is expected to announce the new AirPods Pro 3 earbuds at an event that will take place on September 9. That event is set to see Apple unveil the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro for the first time, as well as a new Apple Watch and a refreshed Apple Watch Ultra model.
