in my opinion never update software through itunes, apple likes locking phones to use their registered carriers…

jail braking is not very easy process

it doesn't connect to itune . it asks to insert a sim card. Iphone is locked how can i get it to work with itune first?

Dear Taimur,

I need your help very badly on this issue.
I have usa iphone 3G version 2.2.1 and the same unlocked with 3.0 and I have been using it for almost month now, but yesterday by mistake i have updated the iphone with 3.0.1 version through itunes and when the download completed I could see the phone asking for insert original carrier SIM to active the iphone and enter the PIN number even itunes also displays the msg something like the sim is not recognized and you will to use the carrier sim to activate the iphone. Now i can not use the iphone. do i have to insert the usa sim and enter the PIN or should I unlock with software update?

Could you please help how can i solve this problem? would like to know what was wrong? is it possible to unlock this iphone? do I have to unlock this again with 3.0 version now? kindly help me on this Thanks a lot for your help.

Hello everyone,
I wanted to share my problem with you.
I updated my iPhone 3G from 2.2.1 to OS 3.0 and now my phone is not even turning on.
The error it is showing is “iTunes cannot activate your iPhone, make sure the SIM card is inserted correctly and, if you use a SIM PIN, tap unlock to enter it, and then reconnect your iPhone” (this is whats is shown on iTunes)
The error which the phone is showing is “NO SIM CARD INSTALLED: Insert a valid SIM card to activate your iPhone”

I’m using this phone in UAE and Pakistan and the phone was working on UNIVERSAL SIM also known as TURBO SIM.

I would be REALLY VERY thankful to you as i’m very worried about it.
