Comments on: Using Xbox 360 IR remote with Vista Media Center

I've just purchased the xbox 360 control pictured above to use with my Windows 7 PC. I now need the microsoft remote control receiver, any ideas where I can find one of these?

Also, will any ir dongle work to receive the ir signals from this remote as an alternative to the microsoft receiver?

Hey guys,

I've got a Media Center 2005 PC that I just updated to Windows 7. Everything so far is working great, better than it was with Media Center, except the remote. My remote is the original ehome remote that came with media center computers and has that USB IR receptor in your pictures to go with it, so I imagine it must be similar. However, after using TweakMC, none of the buttons work. Should I also download intelliremote/similar, or is this something different?

The latest version of Intelliremote (2.7.6) which is being tested now supports the Xbox 360 remote in Windows 7 without any problems or double button push issues. I have a power user testing it thoroughly with the Xbox 360 remote and he is reporting NO problems.

Yep, i know what it happened, to use vol up.down, ch up/down, etc, you must use http://www.bg-planet.com/tweakmc/TweakMC_WinSeven.zip and set ON universal remotes and also set 0 for remotes. Read my comments here. After do this tweak , restart, and now you could use intelliremote or girder ok, with all buttons working except TV buttons.

I’ve managed to get the remote to work as well as I’d hoped with WMC except when i try to register the volume buttons with Intelliremote it doesn’t learn them, i press volume up and nothing happens, any ideas? thanks
