Tweet Promptly With The Twicon Jailbreak Tweak For iPhone

Although Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook is inarguably the ‘daddy’ of the social networking family, Twitter has established itself using a slightly different format, and its niche lives on strongly, continuing to thrive as a main-stayer.

A large portion of social networkers – particularly tweeters – choose to blurb their 140 characters whilst on the move via smartphones or tablets using the many variations of third-party apps therein. While the official Twitter app is not as accident-prone as Facebook’s, there are many others – namely TweetBot – which are much more effective and streamlined for any of the millions partial to the Twitters.

While the App Store is in no way short of such apps, jailbreakers have an even larger array of helpful tweaks and apps which make being sociable easy and enjoyable – as perhaps it should be. Developer iStopped has developed a tweak called Twicon which creates a shortcut on your SpringBoard enabling you to tweet natively on the iOS 5.0 or iOS 5.0.1.

Okay, so it’s not exactly setting the world alight, and is not what we’d tag – nor gratefully accept – as an early Christmas present. Nonetheless, it’s free (which is always a plus), so by installing, you’ve absolutely nothing to lose. It’s also a novel way to quickly tweet in a no-frills, hassle-free manner.

Obviously, you’ll need to be jailbroken in order to use Twicon. It’s available over at the Modmyi repo, which will be amongst your default sources unless you’ve manually deleted it.

As already stated, it doesn’t cost a penny, and having tested it ourselves, we’d highly recommend it.
