This New Accessory Aims To Turn Your iPhone Into A 14-Megapixel Camera

You don’t need to be heavily involved in the music business to have heard of the Black Eyed Peas or indeed will.i.am who is generally considered to be the front man for the group and the main inspiration behind their success in recent years. It also doesn’t take a lot of brain processing power to understand that will.i.am isn’t exactly one hundred percent committed to his music career and likes to grab any possible opportunity to dabble with new and emerging technologies. It’s that technology driven passion that has prompted William James Adams to launch his own branded ‘i.am+’ accessories to accompany mobile smartphones in the hope of making the experience better for consumers.

The range of accessories will be exclusively available through the Selfridges store in London, so we can be guaranteed that they won’t carry your run of the mill iPhone accessory price-tag, but we can only hope that they have the premium functionality to accompany any high price. Although we don’t have full and detailed information on the full range of i.am+ accessories that will ultimately land on Selfridges shelves, but we do know that the first piece of hardware launched will be compatible with the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5 and will serve to turn the device from a smartphone into a "genius-phone".

The maiden product will be an accessory that clips onto the existing iPhone hardware and dramatically increases the quality of the internal five or eight megapixel camera. The initial hype surrounding the accessory suggests that users will be able to capture photographs that have the equivalent quality of being snapped with a fourteen megapixel camera due to the use of the unique sensor and flash technology that forms part of the new accessory.

In addition to this initial, and any future accessory releases, will.i.am has also invested some of his personal fortune into acquiring the www.i.am domain that he refers to as "digital real estate". The domain will be used to set up a website that takes the idea of premium accessories to a new level by allowing anyone who purchased one of the i.am+ branded products to create their own online profile through the website.

At the time of writing, pricing hadn’t been announced for the accessories, but this information should be common knowledge soon with a release event planned for next week in London.
