It’s that time of week again where we trawl the App Store to find games, apps and utilities that would normally command a fee but for a limited period of time are available for free. Everyone likes free, do they not?

While these apps are well worth the asking price on any normal day, the chance to download them for free should be too good to refuse for any self respecting app hoarder, so without further ado let us get to the apps in question, with titles covering both the iOS and Mac App Stores.

Carmageddon ($0.99 – FREE)

What is there to say about this game that everyone doesn’t already know? And if you’re young enough to not know the story behind Carmageddon or why everyone should own it on at least one platform, then you need to do some research. Now.

Colors ($0.99 – FREE)

Filters are a photographer’s best friend, so having a thousand of them must make you really, really popular. Colors comes with a thousand filters, ergo, you’re really popular. You’re welcome.

Mooniz Pro ($0.99 – FREE)

Popular addictive puzzle game, gone on sale for Memorial Day weekend. We like that idea, so download this for free today.

Death Rally ($0.99 – FREE)

A combat-based racer that found itself top of the charts in no fewer than 84 different countries, Death Rally deserves to be downloaded for free and, if we’re honest, it’s original price of a dollar as well.

Steel Guitar ($0.99 – FREE)

It’s a guitar built into your iPhone or iPad. If you can play then this is for you, and if you can’t then it’s probably worth a download anyway. Particularly if you’re learning.

Freddy’s Dead Zombie Run ($0.99 – FREE)

Zombies and endless running. What’s not to like here?

Chord Cheat ($0.99 – FREE)

Perfect if you’re learning chords, this app will show you how to play them in handy pictorial form. Great stuff, and free for a limited time.

Paint ($2.99 – FREE / Mac)

There is no shortage of painting apps for the Mac, but one going free is always worth a mention, especially when it is this good.

Softmatic ($9.99 – FREE / Mac)

If you find yourself with the need to create your very own QR codes then this $10 app is free for a limited time. If you think you might use it then download it today, before its developer comes to its senses.

So there you have it, time to get downloading!

All of the above mentioned apps are available to download directly from the App Store and Mac App Store.

Note: These apps are available for free for a limited time only. Download them as soon as possible since such deals don’t ordinarily last for more than 24 hours after posting.
