The RSS framework (Common Feed List) doesn't allow you to set a single story as read, only an entire feed. Notice how when browsing a feed in IE7, it marks the whole feed as read. I see you're using Live Mail, so in order to get the read/unread state, you will also need to sync the Live Mail folder. I really don't recommend that though, I think it could get quite messy.

Taimur,

The read/unread state of a specific post in a feed is maintained by the feed reader. After spending sometime with it, I too find the read/unread status of feeds not working quite as well as i wanted it to. I think its because of the RSS behaviour in Windows. There must be some file in Windows which keeps history of our read/unread status of feeds. If we find it out then synching that file across PCs would solve our problem of read/unread status of feeds.
Other than this, all else works great.

Fred you are absolutely right on this one. I was hoping I'd be able to read a feed on one PC (and have it marked as 'read', and going to the other PC and seeing it marked as read there as well. That doesn't work. In fact, sometimes feeds that I've read on my laptop but not on my PC suddenly get marked as unread on my laptop again, presumably because the feed's file got changed on my PC and Mesh copied it back to my laptop. So throughout the day, feeds that I've read suddenly get changed back to unread again, seemingly at random.Looks like either Mesh or the RSS infrastructure on Windows isn't ready for this yet. Perhaps when the "When files are opened" sync option on Mesh becomes available.Has anybody else been getting these results, or are people getting perfect behaviour out of this? I'll shoot off an email to the RSS team at Microsoft to see if they can shed some light on this.

Right, I’ve been experimenting with this, but it’s not proving satisfactory.
