Some iPhone 6s Pre-Orders Begin ‘Preparing For Shipment’

If you were amongst the first batch of excited consumers to pre-order one of Apple’s new iPhone 6s series smartphones, then you may want to check your Apple account and email inbox. A number of excited pre-order customers are reporting that their order status has today changed from “Processing Items” to “Preparing for Shipment” message. Of course, the hardware still actually has to be shipped before customers can actually reach maximum excitement levels, but let’s take one step at a time here.

It’s great news for those seeing the account activity when logging into and viewing their order, but there are a few characteristics about the situation that are particular notable. First of all, it seems to be Apple’s 4.7-inch iPhone 6s hardware that is accounting for a major portion of this change in order status. Reports regarding the larger iPhone 6s Plus remain far and few with many users not seeing any status changes within their Apple accounts; at least not that we are aware of at the moment.

It’s also interesting to see that seemingly all of those who have experienced this change in order status, live outside of the United States. Reports are hitting social media from Germany, Canada, the United Kingdom, and France suggesting that pre-orders of some buyers have moved onto the next part of the process. Apple has also started charging the provided credit cards for those customers whose phones are now being prepared for shipment. Not entirely out of the blue as it is a normal part of the Apple hardware order process, but it has come a little earlier than expected for a lot of people.

Of course, the change in status is really incidental unless one of Apple’s logistics providers around the world jumps the gun. Apple’s delivery partners around the world, such as UPS, TNT, and FEDex, are all under extremely strict instructions to hold onto the shipments and not complete any deliveries until the September 25 release date that’s been assigned to the launch of hardware. Will any lucky individual fall on the positive side of the delivery sword and receive and accidental early shipment of the iPhone 6s? It’s happened before so it’s not entirely out of the question.

With September 25 fast approaching it’s only a matter of time until all pre-orders start to change in status.
