Rumor: iPhone SE 2 To Feature Glass Back For Wireless Charging

The iPhone SE may not be the sexiest of Apple’s iPhone lineup, but that does not mean that it should not receive plenty of attention.

In its current form, it admittedly looks less than inspiring, but for those who still want that small form factor, it is hard to beat.

It really could do with a speed boost at this point, though, and that’s exactly what the rumors have us expecting in the next few months. Those rumors have offered little more expectation than just that, however – a speed boost that will give the little iPhone a bit more punch. Now, a new rumor has the iPhone SE 2, if you will, also carrying a feature that has proven very popular among iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X users.

That feature is wireless charging, something that Android phones, Windows Phone, err, phones and just about every other smartphone has had for years. Since Apple started down the same wireless charging path, everyone is now admitting how useful it can be, and Apple looks like it may be bringing the same feature to the new iPhone SE 2 if a new report turns out to be accurate.

Citing “a very reliable source,” the report believes that Apple will give the new iPhone SE 2 a glass rear panel, replacing metal on the current model, which will make the wireless charging possible. If a glass panel is on the way, the only real reason for the change can be to allow wireless charging.

We do not know when exactly the new iPhone SE 2 – likely to just be called the iPhone SE – will be announced, but with the current handset essentially two years old at this point, it is certainly due some love.
