Rumor: iPhone SE 2 Release Set For August 2017

You cannot venture anywhere near the internet these days without stumbling upon some form of rumor which claims to have information about what the iPhone 8 will be, or when it will become available. Because of that there has been less news of other possible iPhone-related releases than we may have expected, and specifically the iPhone SE.

Now a new report by iGeneration claims that we can expect a new iPhone SE in August, ahead of an iPhone 8 announcement in September or October.

Rumors as to a new iPhone SE 2 have been almost non-existent thus far, but today’s news would make a modicum of sense considering the last time Apple’s smallest, least expensive iPhone got refresh was back in March of 2016. With that in mind the possibility of a refresh next month makes plenty of sense indeed.

Citing a source that is new to them, iGeneration reports that the new iPhone SE 2 will be even less expensive than iPhone SE is right now. That means a price of 399 euros, down from the 489 euros buyers have to hand over right now.

We do unfortunately find it troublesome that this is the first time this particular source has provided information to iGeneration, which means that there is no track record to look at when trying to decide how reliable this leak may or may not be. It makes plenty of sense, but then not everything Apple does makes sense these days, does it?

Regardless of what happens with the iPhone SE, we do know with almost certainty that an iPhone 8 will be announced in either September of October, and with that being the flagship device everyone seems to be waiting for, it’s possible nobody will even notice whether we get a new iPhone SE or not!
