Roofbot: Puzzler On The Roof For iOS Is Apple’s Free App Of The Week [$3 Value]

Apple’s Free App of the Week promotion continues to offer that familiarity iPhone and iPad users have become accustomed to. This week’s offering is a puzzle game which usually retails for $2.99 on the App Store, but as you guessed it, is free to download till this Thursday.

Called Roofbot: Puzzler on the Roof, it is a beautiful game that has never dropped its price tag, that is until now, which alone makes it a worthwhile title to check.

Based on a tiled theme, the puzzler is not only aesthetically pleasing like most premium iOS games, but equally challenging with players required to think ahead before making any move: “Guide Roofie through gorgeous, meditative rooftops and try to get the right color energy balls into the proper slots to solve the puzzle. But beware — the architecture changes as you interact with it so think ahead. Every step you take may lead you closer to the goal, or trap you on the roof forever.”

Of course you have to wonder what Roofie – interesting choice of name – is up to and what his deal really is. Turns out there’s this big, bad, evil bot called uber-bot, that Roofie is on a mission to stop, but you have to “Work your way up the rooftops” for that first.

The villain here is “greedily funneling away all of the power, causing bug after critical bug.”

The controls have been kept intuitive and simple. You can control Roofie by simply swiping in the direction of the tiles you want him to walk onto and interact with the various items.

All-in-all, even if you’re not a huge fan of puzzlers, it would be worthwhile checking out this free title simply for the “gorgeous audio and fantastic, hand-crafted architecture.”

You can download the game for free on both iPhone and iPad from the App Store.
