Is Apple Feeling the Heat? Rival Smartphone Antenna Performance Videos Removed from Apple.com

Last month in a special iPhone 4 centric press conference, Steve Jobs defended iPhone 4 antenna issue by comparing it with some of the other popular handsets having the same problem. The key point which Apple wanted everyone to know was that this so called “attenuation” problem is not limited to iPhone 4 only. And so to further highlight this, Apple set up a new webpage on Apple.com which showcased different popular smartphones like Motorola Droid X, Samsung Omnia II, BlackBerry Bold, HTC Droid Eris etc having the same problem.

This all of course didn’t went down too well with the companies behind those smartphones and so they came up with a new anti-Apple advertising campaign to thrash Apple’s claim. This outcome and reaction was obvious, and we saw it in the recent Samsung Galaxy S and Motorola Droid X ad.

And today, in a surprise move, Apple has removed the antenna performance videos page, probably realizing that it was a mistake to post all those videos of the rivals in the first place? Well who knows. Interestingly though, you can still find them on Canadian version of Apple iPhone 4 site here, and on the official YouTube channel of Apple here. [via TechCrunch]
