How To Post Old Photos Or Videos To Instagram Stories On iPhone / Android The Easy Way

Here’s how to post to Instagram Stories old photos or videos the easy way. This applies to both iPhone and Android devices.

If you’re an Instagram user and literally love nothing more than sharing your life through the now relatively popular Stories feature, then you are probably a little disheartened to find out that you can only upload previously captured videos and photos which had been taken in the last 24-hours.

Rather than have your creativity stifled, we’re going to show you how to work around that Instagram limitation using one of the platform’s rivals. If you hate being limited by Instagram as to what you can and can’t post in Stories, then you’re going to love this little hack which involves using Snapchat to trick Instagram into thinking a photo or video has been captured within the last 24-hours.

Step 1: First of all, you are going to need to have Snapchat installed on your device. Launch Snapchat and switch to capture mode.

Step 2: Now head into the Memories section which is where the app stores all of the photos and videos which have been taken using the app. It’s essentially a photo and video album within Snapchat itself with everything organized in chronological order.

Step 3: Once in Memories section, tap the Camera Roll tab, then scroll through the photos and videos on your phone until you find one that was taken more than 24-hours ago and select it.

Step 4: Now tap on the familiar looking share button at the bottom of the interface. Save the selected media to your Camera Roll. You will see a very thin banner alert at the top of Snapchat to let you know it has been saved. (Note, that on some Android phones, the option to save directly to Gallery may not be visible, you can easily email yourself the photo / video and proceed to saving it to the Gallery from there.)

Step 5: Now, launch Instagram and head into the Stories section. Because you have just saved the media to the Camera Roll using Snapchat, it actually makes Instagram believe that it was taken in the last 24-hours. You can now select it and use it as a new post in Instagram Stories.

And that’s really all there is to it. While there are many other ways you can achieve same result, this is probably the most easiest, free, and the most efficient method we know of to make the magic happen. Enjoy.
