If you aren’t familiar with the Parrot AR. Drone then you’ve been missing out on a treat. The radio-controlled quadcopter is a third-party product manufactured by Parrot in France that stands in a category of its own. The whole design of the quadcopter relies on a smartphone or tablet to provide the control input for the device, which is something that pretty much meant it had to be placed into its own product category when it was originally unveiled at the International CES in 2010. In an attempt to keep the product fresh and in our minds, Parrot has announced the Elite Edition of the A.R.Drone 2.0, just in time for the holiday shopping season.
The 2.0 version of the extremely impressive quadcopter was initially introduced to the market at the beginning of the year. In the time that’s followed, Parrot has been busy improving the range and has subsequently pushed out a variant with an extended battery pack called the AR. Drone 2.0 Power Edition and made some great enhancements to the accompanying mobile app. This latest iteration to the range has been named the Elite Edition, and although it’s extremely similar to August’s Power Edition model, it places a lot more emphasis on external aesthetics and is offered in a variety of thrilling colors.
You only have to take one look at the quadcopter and hear the word ‘drone’ to immediately conjure up thoughts of some kind of military action. It seems Parrot has played on that by putting a great deal of color emphasis for the Elite Edition on a camouflaged exterior. Consumers looking to get in on the quadcopter action will be able to choose from Sand, Snow or Jungle externals, all of which have been designed to blend seamlessly into urban environments. In addition to the body amendments the Elite Edition will also come with varying color propellers depending on the chosen model and will retail at $299.99. Of course, there is still the bolt on a flight recorder pack and a high-density battery if required.
The Elite Edition model will be available to purchase from a number of outlets such as Amazon, making it the perfect seasonal gift for that technology loving individual in your life.
