Olloclip has been extending the capabilities of smartphone cameras – including iPhones – for quite some time now. Easily one of the most popular go-to manufacturer for clip-on lenses for the iPhone, the company has just released a new lens system called Active Lens for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, which carries a 2x telephoto and a new ultra wide-angle lens in one clip. More details on this can be found right here.

The whole 2-in-1 lens system is nothing new as far as Olloclip is concerned, with the company having churned out an array of clip-on systems featuring as many as 4 lenses, with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus receiving one just recently. Where the iPhone 6 already sports one of the best cameras available on a smartphone, there are some obvious limitations and design constraints when it comes to expanding the camera’s prowess beyond what is currently available.

This new Active Lens system will allow iPhone 6 / 6 Plus users to shoot videos and take still photographs using Olloclip’s brand new ‘ultra-wide’ angle lens for that perfect wide-angle shot, or make use of the telephoto lens which allows you to close in on subjects with 2x of fixed optical zoom. The iPhone’s camera has never been a strong contender when it comes to field-of-view, especially where the front-facing camera is concerned, but that’s nothing the wide-angle lens on the Active Lens cannot help with. The clip can be mounted for both the rear-facing camera and the front-facing shooter as well.

“Connect the Ultra-Wide lens to give your phone an ‘action camera’ point-of-view for everything from panoramic landscapes to a group selfie on the front FaceTimeTM camera,” says Olloclip. “Switch quickly and easily to the Telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom to get twice as close to the action or to achieve stunning portraits with a narrower depth-of-field.”

Olloclip has recently released a new case called the OlloCase for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus which is meant to protect your phone from some unfortunate wear and tear, while allowing users to play with a variety of Olloclip lens systems, without being hindered by the presence of a protective case on your phone.

The Active Lens is available on Olloclip’s website and is available for pre-ordering right now carrying a price tag of $99.99.
