Had an iPhone. Loved it. Bad ATT reception in my area is only reason I had to let it go. So for me the more "iPhone-like" the phone the better. The Android OS is pretty good, though I don't think it's as solid as Apple's OS. It will probably get there in time. Tried Blackberry Pearl and loved the size (form factor) and phone quality but the interface is just plain awful, so overall I really hated the thing and returned it. It was just not usable for me. Have talked to several other folks who tried the Pearl and hated it as well. Went with a BB Tour and liked it OK, but it's NOT comparable to an iPhone. The Tour is full featured and very usable, and much nicer than some other BB offerings IMO. Again, it's all about the interface. If you like touch screens, (and some folks don't), you're not going to like the Tour. A relative got the Moto Droid and finds the keyboard pretty useless: (seldom uses it). I went with the HTC Eris and find it quite useable and "iPhone like" in terms of navigation. The slightly smaller size and lighter weight of the HTC version is a nice plus. Good sound quality. I have had a few occasions when my Droid has either frozen up or randomly quit some apps, so I think there are still a few OS issues to be ironed out. Fixes will probably come quickly. Would MUCH prefer a removable micro SD card, and the up to 16gig removable capability of the Motorola device could make it the winner for some folks (the Eris uses an 8gig card, which is not removable and not expandable, which seems like a huge oversight). If you want unlimited pix, apps and videos, go for the Motorola. I'd also suggest trying out both phones to see how the very different approaches to keying in data (Motorola's pop-out physical keyboard vs HTC's touch screen keyboard) suits your needs. I still give a slight edge to the HTC for my own purposes. The differing approaches to data entry and the removable vs. fixed memory are the biggest points to consider. Even though the weight and bulk difference sounds minor, it could also be a decisive factor. Both are good phones.

I cannot decide the winner of this guy. Eris is pretty slick, but the Moto is more tried and true...if that makes any sense.

I have had some awful luck with Motorola phones in the past, and have put my RIM fleet through hell...they seem to hold up amazingly. My contract is up, and I need to make a decision...leaning towards the Eros, slightly.

@The Anti-VZW
Im sorry but get off of apples dick they are selling apps that are free for the droid first off. Second the apps that they have have so many problems with them and i have yet to have any problem with mine. Im not saying that the Iphone is an awful phone and doesnt compare but the droid and the htc both have given the iphone an equal run for its money. So dont go talking about how verizon doesn't have a billion apps cause who really needs a dog whistle on their phone. O and the fact that i can get the background app for free on my droid which i know you can get on your iphone and then search smoothly through pictures for a background that changes the actual background of my phone and not the lock screen and then just having click set as background to change my background. wow that seems impossible
