Microsoft Surface RT Tablet Will Reportedly Be Priced Around The $350 Mark

Users who want to complete their gadget collection with a tablet-type device will more than likely opt for the iPad, the fantastic Nexus 7 or choose to purchase one of the Amazon Kindle Fire offerings. The tablet space is packed with a whole range of devices but only a handful are really powerful and capable units, but if Microsoft has anything to do with it then their upcoming Surface tablet will break into that category fairly soon.

The Redmond based company has already held their Surface event and announced the various models to the world as well as the accessories that will accompany them, but even though they haven’t been shy in marketing the product, they have so far been extremely hesitant in releasing any specific details about pricing or when the lovely little range of tablets will be available. Although, it’s by no means concrete proof of any pricing plans, a contest on the Dummies.com website could point to approximate pricing points of the Microsoft Surface with Windows RT.

The website in question is holding a competition that will allow entrants to win one of Microsoft’s new Surface RT tablets, which in itself doesn’t really give away any clues. Those who take the plunge and enter the online competition are in with a chance of winning one Surface RT tablet, one copy of Windows 8 for Dummies and one copy of the company’s Surface for Dummies book. The website is listing the prize fund as having an approximate retail value of $350 USD.

With previous Windows based Dummies books seeming to retail at around $25 on their website, it is reasonable to assume that the Surface RT could launch into the market with a sub $350 price tag. Granted, it isn’t exactly a scientific method of guessing an approximate pricing point for the tablet, but if it does turn out to be accurate then it would be an extremely attractive price for Surface that also comes accompanied with the Touch Cover.

The competition itself is designed to not only promote Windows 8 to the masses but also the Dummies user books that will hopefully allow new and existing Windows users to get up to speed with Microsoft’s new hardware and software offerings in as short a time as possible.
