Yeah, if you've jailbroken your phone or plan on doing it sometime, DO NOT update to 4.0.2, it just breaks your jailbreak. Even though it's legal now, Apple is still butt-hurt and is still trying to stop it, which is wrong since it's legal now. Haters!

This is great news! As an owner of an iPhone repair shop, I have always steered away from questions about jailbreaking and unlocking iPhones on the professional level over the past few years. Not because I don't know how to jaoilbreak/unlock and not because I had any moral issue with it (after all my thought has always been that if you buy and own an electronic device you should be able to install any custom firmware or modify it in any way you want right?) But now that it's actually been deemed "legal", it allows a small business owner like myself to offer more assistence in this area to my customers and I can broaden my service base without feeling like I'm doing something shady. Hopefully this ruling will also open Apple's eyes a bit and help them move toward loosening the "deathgrip" on their devices because the law is on the side of the consumer now. This is a great day for consumer rights!!

it doesnt mean that the manufacturer is required to help you circumvent their protocols. It also doesn't mean that apple is required to continue warranty on jailbroken phones as I believe jailbreaking is against their EULA.
