In Tune – press Shift + Restore, that will allow you to browse which version you would like to update to. But you must download the 3.1.2 firmware first, then save it, and look for this file for restoring.

Unfortunately I made restore to 3.1.2 on an iPhone 2G. Now I am stuck, because any of jailbreak software (blackra1n and redsn0w) doesn't make anything. Any clues?

Hi, im having a few issues. I have updated my iphone 2g to 3.0 using Pwnage tool 3.0. Now i want to upgrade to 3.1.2 using the following guide. The only problem i am running into now is that i do not know how to update my phone to 3.1.2, because now the 3.1.3 update is the one itunes automatically updates to. How do i get around this. The main reason for doing this is for tethering and MMS. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi there,

iPhone 2G, 3.1.2; follow instruction to a tee. Put in T-mobile SIM. No go. Tried it 6 ways from Sunday (actually about a dozen times) but could never get past the need to restore in iTunes with the message that my restore file (iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw) is incompatible with my firmware. Everything was fine if the SIM was removed (well, everything except Cydia, which would just crash upon opening).

Very long story short; I restored to Version 3.0 and re-broke the phone using RedSnow instead. Now everything is great.

When I was using BlackRain and 3.1.2 the Carrier was listed as "Carrier 5.0" but after using 3.0 and RedSnow is says "Carrier 4.0" with the same SIM in.

I'm pretty geeky, but nowhere near a hacker; I don't know if that's any help at all.

hi i am from india and i havin iphone 2g ….
i updated my firmware to 3.1.2 and then jailbreak using blackrar1n and inserted my airtel sim card and it is working…..

i want to know do i need it to Neuter using BootNeuter or no ???
bcoz it iz working without it

no you dont need to.. its already unlocked.. you only need bootnueter if it is locked..

Hi mate, i did everything as u said in this webpage for jailbreak my iphone. but one thing i dont get is without using bootnueter my iphone is unlocked and working fine.
