I attempted to jailbreak it and of course it did not work. I have the 3.0 software available. Would I be able to restore the firmware using 3.0 and then jailbreak? I just bought this Touch 8g version so I assume its a Ipod Touch 3G. Like I said the serial number starts with MC... Not MB. My other jailbroken Touch was 2g and came with 2.0 on it last year. Since it's a Touch I dont care about the 3.1.X software because it seems to add nothing of value yet.

I have an Ipod touch that has an MC for the serial number. However, will this work for firmware 3.1.2? I apologize in advance for the 'noob' question, but I've never jailbroken an iPod Touch before, but I would like to jailbreak mine. It's a iTouch 2G, 8 gigs, and I'm sure I can handle it. I just need to know about compatibility issues with firmware 3.1.2.

According to this, this will work for firmware 3.1.1 for the supported devices.
