Experiencing Bluetooth Connectivity Issue On iPhone 7? You’re Not Alone

According to online polls, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are having Bluetooth connectivity issues. Here are the details.

Apple’s iPhone 7 has gotten off to a somewhat typical start in life for any new iPhone. Generally well received, despite the infamous omission of the traditional headphone jack, the iPhone 7 has been subject to its own hissgate situation similar to antennagate and bendgate before it, and now it looks like there may be a whole new furore starting to brew, this time surrounding Bluetooth connectivity.

Over the last couple of days, polls conducted online asked users whether they have experienced any show-stopping issues with their new iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus smartphones. Predictably, there have been plenty of people responding, saying that they have experienced issues of varying significance, but one theme appears to be recurring – the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus aren’t all that great when it comes to Bluetooth connections.

The issues themselves appear to revolve around getting the new iPhones to first pair with, and then stay connected to a wide range of Bluetooth devices, be they headphones, speakers or car stereo systems.

Such issues are obviously compounded by the fact that Apple is pushing the new iPhones as wireless audio systems due to, you guessed it, the removal of that headphone jack. What good is a phone without a headphone jack that also can’t work reliably with Bluetooth headphones? There’s that Lightning adapter, granted, but we can’t help but think someone inside Apple is squirming a little right now.

Thankfully, the suspicion is that the issue is all software-based rather than hardware, and if that is the case, then an upcoming iOS update should have things working more smoothly. Until then, though, if you’re having your iPhone 7 drop Bluetooth connections or simply refuse to establish them in the first place, you might want to dig out a cable.

Or your old iPhone. They worked just fine.
