iPhone 6s / Plus Feature 2GB RAM; 6s Has Smaller Battery Than 6 But Gives Same Battery Time

Apple’s iPhone-centric event at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium answered a lot of questions about the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. It confirmed company’s new 3D Touch display technology. It also confirmed the existence of the new Rose Gold color option that had been heavily discussed. One important aspect that was brushed over however was just how much RAM will ship with the new iPhones. Thankfully, an after-event hands-on with the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus has now confirmed that both phones will ship with 2GB of RAM on-board.

The Apple keynote and product presentations are undoubtedly one of the most exciting parts of the event. With that said, the workshops and hands-on seminars after the introductions not only raise excitement levels, but also provide those in attendance with the ability to actually explore and interact with the new products. A new report which cites discussions with Apple staff present at the demo floor, suggests that the two new smartphones will ship with double the RAM of the older iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

The confirmation means that Apple has clearly listened to consumers by doubling the RAM found in the iPhone, putting it on par with the powerful iPad Air 2 that feels noticeably faster and more fluid than the iPhone 6. When mixed together with the fantastic 64-bit A9 CPU, users should experience a much more performant device than what was the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

Additionally, one of Apple’s marketing videos that has been made public after the event also seems to answer another question that was skipped over by Apple.

iPhone-6s-Battery

The Cupertino-based company’s 3D Touch video, which explains the thought patterns behind the iPhone 6s’ new methods of interaction, briefly shows a visual of the internals of the phone. This visual includes a quick glimpse of the battery and surrounding components. The markings on the battery confirms previous speculation that Apple has reduced the battery capacity from 1810 mAh in the iPhone 6 to 1715 mAh for the iPhone 6s. Check out the video below for yourself.

Thankfully, even though the battery capacity is reduced, but thanks to the new A9 chip which consumes less power from battery, iPhone 6s gives same 10 hours of 3G / 4G data use, 11 hours of video playback and 14 hours talk time on 3G, which is exactly same as the iPhone 6.

As for iPhone 6s Plus, even though its battery capacity is not confirmed as yet, but if rumors are to be believed, the battery capacity has been reduced from 2910mAh in iPhone 6 Plus to 2750mAh in iPhone 6s Plus, but again iPhone 6s Plus will give same battery time as iPhone 6 Plus.
