iPhone 5 Schematic Drawings Now Available For Download Via Apple

Now that the official information about the iPhone 5 is out in the wild, designers and producers of accessories and after-market products can begin readying themselves in time for the initial launch. The more enterprising producers would have taken a chance with things like manufacturing cases, relying heavily on the leaked specifications that emerged before the Apple event. However, developers of more advanced accessories and expensive products require all of the inside scoop on the device, and thankfully, Apple has taken it upon themselves to provide it.

We are so used to rocking up in an Apple Store or calling up our networks to get the latest iPhone that it becomes so easy to forget that Apple’s smartphone goes through a lengthy and rigorous process of design and development. It makes sense to expect that the company produces a large number of blueprints, device drawings and schematics of the device in the process. As part of their commitment to ensuring that manufacturers build the highest quality accessories to compliment their hardware, Apple has made available a detailed set of iPhone 5 drawings.

The highly detailed PDF file release is verified to be genuine, and the URL on which it is hosted adds another seal of authenticity to the whole deal. The drawing title block shows that the blueprints were drawn up just three days before the official announcement, with the drawing title block claiming that all included information is property of Apple Inc.

As you might expect from a document that has been produced by the engineers at Apple, the blueprint is extremely detailed and shows pretty much every aspect of the elongated iPhone 5, as well as a set of basic notes that give guidance for designers, including the fact that their products should not include metal that sits in contact with the metal part of the iPhone. Apple is also advising that we should refrain from building or purchasing products that obstruct any acoustic apertures on the device, including front microphone, earpiece and speaker.

With the iPhone 5 only going live for pre-orders yesterday and already depleting all available stock, it looks like Apple has another huge commercial success on their hands. Let’s hope that all accessory and case manufacturers take Apple’s lead and sweat the necessary details to build some fantastic products to compliment the device.
