iOS 7 Beta 6 Download Released For iPhone, iPad, iPod touch

iOS 7 beta 6 download has just gone live for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users. As ever, it’s a dev-only release, and you can catch all of the key details and changes right after the fold.

Although the initial iOS 7 beta was met with a lot of criticism thanks to its alpha-like state and lack of iPad support, those testing out the subsequent releases have reported back a much smoother general experience. iOS 7 beta 6 shows evidence of Apple’s continued strive to get the firmware ready for prime time consumption, offering the usual array of bug fixes and general performance enhancements.

There have been a few very minor tweaks made to the interface; an interface that has been the main topic of discussion ever since the announcement of iOS 7 back at this year’s WWDC in June. The flat shapes and bright colors looked to have rubbed quite a few users, developers and commentators up the wrong way, but as the betas have continued to drop, the focus has turned, quite rightly, onto the features.

Which is just as well, really, since iOS 7, aside from the alterations to the UI elements, actually brings plenty of enhanced functionality to the table as well. As well as improvements to core apps like Maps and Safari, the Cupertino looks to have heeded some of the complaints of long-time jailbreakers by finally relaxing the limitations beset upon the folders that first arrived with iOS 4. The Control Center also brings SBSettings-like toggles to the fore, and although we’re not quite ready to let go of Cydia just yet, it’s certainly nice to see these options arriving as standard.
